In her latest interview with British Vogue, Kidman revealed that she was allegedly ‘warned’ that marrying Cruise could negatively impact her acting career.

Opening up about taking the plunge at 23, Nicole told British Vogue “Strangely enough, I feel comfortable. Is that weird? That’s so weird.” While admitting that she ‘got married so young,’ she said, “Suddenly I was 22, 23 years old and I had this huge movie star husband. But it just seemed completely natural. We just fell madly in love, and it was that simple.”

While she was at it, she recalled people warning her against marrying Cruise. She said, “I remember people saying to me, ‘OK, well this is really going to affect your career.'” Going on to reveal her resolve to wed, she said, “I’m like, ‘I don’t care. I’m in love. I want to be married.'”However, recalling the change in her professional life after the marriage, she said, “And then I was his ‘wife’ and they were like, ‘See, we told you.’” Kidman, making it clear that she was still firm on protecting her private life, brushed off the comments saying, “I’m like, ‘So what? I wasn’t meant to marry the man I love? Of course I’ll throw my career away. I don’t care.'”

Kidman and Cruise met in 1989 while working on Tony Scott’s ‘Days of Thunder’, which marked Kidman’s Hollywood feature-film debut. The co-stars wed the following year, in 1990 and remained together for 11 years. At the time, the actor said her age was one of the factors that shaped her relationship. “I was a child, really, when I got married.
