‘I haven’t even kissed’: Yash addresses ‘Toxic’ intimate scenes; explains his take on ‘vulgarity’
Yash has spoken about the criticism surrounding the intimate moments in his upcoming movie ‘Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups’. The actor addressed the debate while appearing on Rajat Sharma’s ‘Aap Ki Adalat’.The promotional material for ‘Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups’ has sparked discussions online, especially due to some scenes, which they termed as ‘Vulgur’.
Yash responds to ‘Toxic’ vulgarity allegations
During his interaction with ‘Aap Ki Adaalat’, Yash was asked about the criticism directed at the movie. He explained that he does not believe the film crosses the boundary into vulgarity. “Vulgarity is wrong. Maine toh kiss bhi nahi kiya hain, agar aapne dekha hoga toh (Vulgarity is wrong. I haven’t even kissed, as you may have noticed).” Yash also discussed how such scenes should be presented on screen. He suggested that the visual treatment plays an important role in determining how audiences perceive a particular sequence. “Ek line hai, woh humko bhi pata hain. You have to shoot in an aesthetic way aur baad me jo vicerally lagta hain na, that is the impact of cinema. Woh ek creator ka voice hota hain (There is a certain line, and we understand that. You have to shoot things aesthetically, and what may seem visually appealing later is the impact of cinema. That is a creator’s voice).”
Yash revisits Rashmika Mandanna’s old comment
In the same conversation, Yash also discussed a controversy involving Rashmika Mandanna from 2017. The issue originated from a rapid-fire television segment. Rashmika Mandanna was asked to identify the “Mr Showoff” of the Kannada film industry. She eventually named Yash, leading to criticism from some of his fans.Years later, Yash was asked about the incident during his conversation with Rajat Sharma. The actor appeared to take a relaxed view of what happened. “I don’t know in what sense she said it. She was new. There are ‘nonsense’ TV shows where the interviewer gives three or four options, and perhaps she thought, ‘This option would suit me.’ A lot of directors were offended. Personally, I feel that’s okay; that’s somebody’s opinion. That’s what I wrote. Anybody can have an opinion about you. But somebody’s opinion will not define my personality. Who I am does not change based on someone else’s perspective. I am who I am.”
