Akshay Kumar marked India’s 80th Independence Day with a patriotic moment that has caught the attention of social media users. The actor was celebrating the occasion with Tiger Shroff and others at a cricket ground in Mumbai when he took part in the national anthem ceremony. A video from the gathering has surfaced online, showing Akshay removing his shoes before holding the Indian national flag while standing on a chair. The gathering paused its cricket match as everyone joined in singing Jana Gana Mana.

According to Free Press Journal, Akshay and Tiger were reportedly playing cricket with a group when the Independence Day celebrations took place. With no visible flagpole at the venue, Akshay stepped onto a chair while holding the Tricolour so that it could be raised during the ceremony. Before doing so, the actor removed his shoes. He then stood holding the national flag as those present, including Tiger, sang the national anthem and saluted the Tricolour.The gesture drew praise online, with several users highlighting the respect shown towards the national flag.One social media user wrote, “Since there was no pole there to hoist the flag at a height, Akshay Kumar first took off his shoes out of respect for the Indian national flag, then held the flag in his hands and stood on a chair. Then everyone there, including him and Tiger Shroff, sang India’s national anthem and celebrated Independence Day by saluting the Indian national flag. Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff are true patriots and good human beings. They stopped their cricket match in the middle to celebrate Independence Day and then continued playing cricket (sic).”
