Mohanlal starrer ‘Athimanoharam’ gets Sabarimala shoot permission with strict religious conditions for Tharun Moorthy’s film |
Mohanlal’s upcoming movie ‘Athimanoharam’ has reportedly received permission to shoot at Sabarimala. The film, directed by Tharun Moorthy, will have an important portion of its second schedule at the pilgrimage centre.As reported by 24 news, the Travancore Devaswom Board has permitted the team to film across locations from Pampa to Sannidhanam. The approval, however, comes with specific conditions that the production must follow while filming in the area. One of the major instruction is that the movie must not negatively portray Sabarimala or religious beliefs.
‘Athimanoharam’ shooting update
The Sabarimala portions are expected to form a major part of the upcoming schedule. The production has already completed a substantial portion of the movie. Tharun Moorthy previously revealed in an interview that around 80% of the shooting is complete. The team has been working across multiple locations as it moves towards completing the remaining portions. Thodupuzha has served as a principal location for ‘Athimanoharam’. The crew also spent around two weeks shooting in Kochi. The remaining portions are planned across Thodupuzha, Kochi, Sabarimala, Hyderabad and Mumbai.
December release planned
The makers have already announced the theatrical release date for ‘Athimanoharam’. The Mohanlal-starrer is scheduled to arrive worldwide on December 24.
Story and cast of ‘Athimanoharam’
‘Athimanoharam’ reportedly follows a police Sub-Inspector dealing with challenges in both his professional and personal life. The story is expected to explore the character’s experiences as he navigates his job demands and his struggles away from duty. Meera Jasmine plays the female lead opposite Mohanlal. The cast also features Lalu Alex, Manoj K. Jayan, Jagadish, Irshad, Sudheesh, Pramod Veliyanad, Sajeevan, Sreenath Babu, Kiran Peethambaran, Viji Viswanath, Bhama Arun and Prarthana.

Meanwhile, Mohanlal’s most recent screen appearance was in a cameo role in ‘Thudakkam’. The movie, directed by Jude Anthany Joseph, has been receiving positive reviews following its theatrical release. It marked the acting debut of Vismaya Mohanlal.
